In diverse roles and in settings ranging from India to the Midwestern US, Madeline’s work has always centered on helping communities pursue environmental sustainability, resilient local economies, and thriving social networks. Madeline began her career supporting a small conservation nonprofit, and she has continued to build her expertise by working as a nonprofit program director, a mixed methods researcher, and an educator. Over the past decade, she has designed and managed several federally-funded projects to research, evaluate, and build local food systems. She has extensive experience managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agency staff, community members, and business owners. Madeline holds a PhD and an MA in Anthropology from Indiana University Bloomington, concentrated on food, the environment, and culture, as well as a BA in the Humanities from Villanova University.
